This tea-set was made at the Plex Street pottery in Stoke on Trent by the Staffordshire Tea-set Company. The company are no longer in existence but were known to have operated until the late 1960s and made versions of the same tea-set in to the 1950s. They made full sized adult ceramics as well as nursery ware and toy tea-sets such as this.
The set, has been decorated with colour images of anthropomorphic animals playing in the country, eating and taking tea. Although this tea-set was produced for a child, its most recent owner, the donor's mother bought it in her adulthood from a charity shop because she never had one as a child.

Physical description | This child's tea set comprises 22 pieces - 6 cups and saucers, 6 plates, a teapot with lid, a milk and sugar bowl. Set is made of white china, each piece has a gilt edging. The set has coloured illustrations of anthropomorphic dogs dressed in clothing acting out various activities such as roller skating, taking a picnic, playing with a ball. |
