Marks and inscriptions | 'Jemmy Warner (unlettered proof) / The celebrated Clown of Sadler's Wells, Islington / The above Print is so rare that the late Mr Percival, the Banker / gave Mr Epscott (the well known Collector) £2.12.6 for merely a / Print (and not a fine impression!) to illustrate his magnificent / History of Islington. Mr Daniel, of Canonbury, gave Misses / Molteno + Graves, late of Pall Mall, £3.13.4 for a proof, / with this advantage, that it had larger side margins / than the present one.' (Written in ink on a piece of paper stuck to back of mount.) |
