Ceramics known as 'Punch'ong' were produced in Korea between 1400 and 1600, at the beginning of the Choson Dynasty. These stoneware ceramics were decorated with white slip, which was applied in different ways. This fragment of a bowl or dish features inlaid decoration flowerheads, a typical design seen on stamped 'Punch'ong' wares.

Physical description | Irregularly shaped fragment of a bowl or dish. Dark-bodied stoneware with stamped and inlaid decoration. Decoration on inner surface: four small flowerheads, each approximately 9mm in diameter, band of brushed white slip and two incomplete larger flowerheads approximately 20mm in diameter. Decoration on outer surface: closely spaced rope pattern decoration in pale inlay over inlaid bands. |
