Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This type of lidded jar is sometimes referred to as a 'ginger jar'. However, there is no evidence that these jars were intended to contain ginger when they were manufactured in the late 17th or early 18th century. The main decorative panels on this piece include two landscape scenes of a kind that were widely copied on European ceramics. The other two panels and lid depict objects known as the '100 antiques'.
