This poster promotes the role played by the Communist Youth League in 1980s China. One of the patriotic activities organised by the League was the "Greening of China Campaign." This campaign involved Chinese youths planting new trees and learning to care for old ones. In this image, a young girl with a watering can nurtures her sapling while a towering tree in the rear ground suggests the heights to which her small tree might grow.
