Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
Little girl's single-breasted coat of cream wool in a basket weave pattern, lined with matching synthetic crepe de chine. The coat has a round neck with a Peter Pan collar and a short cape of unlined self fabric; the inset wrist length sleeves have turn-back cuffs, each held down with a large pearlized button and stitched buttonhole at the outer edge. There is a semicircular inset pocket at each side of the front: each pocket is made of a double thickness of self fabric, with the outer layer of the coat cut away leaving a button through tab to hold the pocket closed. The garment is cut without a waist seam, and fastens the length of the front with two large pearlized buttons and stitched buttonholes, and a metal press stud at the neck.
