Place of origin

The influence of Paris extended across Europe. Many boxes previously thought to have been Swiss are now believed to have been made in Germany. This is one of three boxes bearing similar false French-style marks in the V&A's collection. The research of Dr Lorenz Seelig has shown that they belong to a larger group of boxes, probably made in Berlin.
