Place of origin

Napoleon crowned himself Emperor in 1804. He knew the political value of a splendid court. The giving of a snuff box as a mark of favour became as natural to him as it had been to the kings of France. Nitot made much of the Crown jewellery for the coronation of Napoleon and Joséphine.
