Boy's dress, of magenta twill lined with white cotton and brown silk, and trimmed with brown braid.
Object history
Boys' dress of magenta and black. It was worn by Theophilus Willway when he was about 6 years old and donated to the museum by his great niece and nephew, along with another of his dresses and a pair of shoes and a silk party dress of c.1895, worn by the donors' mother, Lucy Ainsworth (b.1884 - d. 1978)
Theophilus went on to become a photographer, first training under Frieze-Green of Bristol. He never married.
