Ride on Locomotive
ca. 1922 (made)
Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
Pedal car in the form of a train engine, made from painted wood and steel, nailed and screwed together. The engine is mounted on four painted wooden wheels. It comprises a boiler supported at the front by a block of wood, a cab front with two holes cut into it for windows, and a cab back, or tender. There are two buffers at the back and originally there would have been two at the front, but these are now missing. The majority of the front of the boiler is covered with a disc of metal, and blue-painted metal caps are also used over the centres of the wheels. The whole is screwed and nailed together, and is painted red-brown with broad bands of green, with very thin lines of yellow.
