| Object history | The dolls Charles (Misc.233-1979) and Florence (Misc.234-1979) were said to have been brought from Paris in 1862 by the donor's great grand parents John Homer Chance and his wife Cornelia (née de Peyster in New York) for their only daughter Katherine (or Catherine) Navarre Chance b 11/04/1859). John Chance was a glass manufacturer who lived in Edgbaston. He and Cornelia also had sons called John, Robert and Edward; Cornelia died in 1867 and he married Frances Maria Homer in 1869. |
