Pair of pale blue baby slippers. Quilted rayon, lined with white knitted cotton. The slippers have rounded toes and self unit soles. They fasten at the ankles with button-through straps and are decorated on the vamps with embroidery worked in coloured silks. Inside one slipper is a card inscribed "Greetings to Mummy (to be) from Daddy (to be)".

Object history | The garments in the Leleux gift (Misc. 574 to 615-1984) were worn by the donor's children: Sidney Arthur (b. June 1939), Robin Vivian (b. Nov 1944), Andrew Frederick (b. Sept 1946), Heloise Eve (b. July 1948) and Veronica Winifred (b. April 1952). Some of the garments were made by the donor, some by the children's paternal grandmother, and some by a great-aunt. |
