Stereoscopic viewer, cast metal and painted black with two hinged sides so it can be folded flat. The fornt side has two eye holes, each with magnifying glass, and between them is an opening for the nose. The back side has openings, slots and grroves to take the photographs. The front and back sides are hinged at the bottom edge to the base which is plain and bears the mark on the inside. 12 cards accompany the viewer, each having a double photograph of the same subject and title line. The subjecy of the cards are portraits of the Royal family, under the rule of King George V. Each is signed on the back with the name Mary Powell.

Object history | The cards were issued for the Jubilleee celebrations of King George V and Queen Mary in 1935 with each card being dated November 11th 1935. The viewer and photographs were sent to the donor in Australia and were thought to be from an application in a Children's newspaper. The Camerscope was patented (Patent Number 173840) by Cavenders Ltd to be used for the cards that came inside their cigarette packs. |
