Construction kit of wooden pieces, all contained in a card tube with a metal base and screw-on lid. The outside of the tube is covered with paper printed in orange and blue on white to show the title, manufacturer's details, trademarks and diagrams of some of the possible constructions which could be made with the set. There is also an eight page booklet which shows some more inspiration for builds.

The pieces consist of:
48 wooden rods of varying length, plain wood with a slit cut at each end.
One rod with one sharpened end.
Three rods with two sharpened ends.
20 reels, each with eight holes drilled into their rims and a hole in the centre.
Eight orange pieces of card, to be used as sails and propellors.

Object history
Purchased with Misc.410-1990 from Mr. G. Reitsis [90/340]. On entry to the museum its condition was noted as 'good; box scruffy and damaged at top; wooden pieces used and slightly discoloured; booklet torn and damaged'
Production
The Tinkertoy system of interlocking wooden rods and reels was patented in 1914 by Charles H. Pajeau of Evanston, Illinois. He founded the company the same year with Robert Pettit.
