Costume for 'Prince's Mother' in Swan Lake consisting of a late medieval-style gown in orange vermilion velvet embroidered with triangular groups of yellow and gold spots. Under the dagged hanging sleeves which fall to the floor are white balloon sleeves banded with lake ribbon.

With full cap over a padded white silk cap. Overcap of orange vermilion velvet whose upturned wired brim rises to form a scalloped edged 'crown' embroidered with triangular clusters of spots made of gold braid, each with a silver sequin in the middle. Behind the wired brim is a row of wired 'petals'.

Physical description
Costume for 'Prince's Mother' in Swan Lake consisting of a late medieval-style gown in orange vermilion velvet embroidered with triangular groups of yellow and gold spots. Under the dagged hanging sleeves which fall to the floor are white balloon sleeves banded with lake ribbon.

Costume created for Swan Lake at the Bolshoi. Production purchased by Serge Diaghilev and costumes re-used by the Ballets Russes from 1911.
