Costume for a Lady in Waiting in Petipa's ballet The Sleeping Princess designed by Leon Bakst, Diaghilev Ballet, 1921. Late 17th century dress in chrome yellow velvet decorated with silver tissue and embroidery. Silver tissue overlays the scalloped lower bodice edge, hem and lace ruffled sleeves. The scalloped-edged overskirt hangs to the right knee and falls to the floor at the back and left side, where it is caught back revealing the silver tissue lining.
