Costume designed by Nicholas Roerich for a Woman (nicknamed 'the storks') in scene 1 in Nijinsky's ballet Le Sacre du printemps 1913. Collarless jacket of off white flannelette with sleeves cut in one with the body and underarm gusset of orange cotton. The edges are trimmed with brown fur. The upper arm is decorated with a stencilled band of lines, circles and triangles in orange yellow, claret and mauve with a line; around the elbow is a row of mauve trefoils and orange ochre lozenges and magenta triangles below which is an orange ochre scalloped line. At the hem is a stencilled band of circles in mauve and pale yellow on orange yellow or mauve ground; above the band are mauve trefoils with orange yellow centres alternating with green ochre rectangular shapes and above a scalloped green ochre line.
