Costume, essentially style 3 but no label included) designed by Nicholas Roeric for a Maiden in scene 2 in Nijinsky's ballet Le Sacre du printemps for Serge, Diaghilev's Ballet's Russes 1913. Off white wool knee length dress with orange underarm gusset, painted with geometric patterns in orange vermilion and yellows.
On the arm bands are ovals with a central cross; at the neck the pained pattern has run and the wider decoration at the hem of carmine rectangles, ochre circles and vermilion diagonals on yellow and ochre triangles between a serpentine line has been added on two bands. The width of the decoration at the hem is 29 cms - see the wider decoration on the costume worn by the woman on the right of Gershal's photograph. Contains the name Dobrovska sewn in. There is no origial label but includes the two custom stamps.
