Costume for a Maiden in scene 1 in Nijinsky's ballet Le Sacre du printemps designed by Nicholas Roerichfor Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes 1913. Robe of off white cotton with simulated underskirt and red underarm gussets, with a front 'bib' painted with various geometric shapes on a pale ochre ground. The sleeves are decorated with circular motifs and the hems with lines, spots, lattices and crosses.

Object history | It appears that some of the belts worn in the 1913 production of Le Sacre du printemps were used by several characters. Belts worn by the Women in scene 1 re-appeared in scene 2 on the Maidens' costumes. |
