Costume for a Maiden in scene 1 in Nijinsky's ballet Le Sacre du printemps designed by Nicholas Roerichfor Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes 1913. Robe of off white cotton with simulated underskirt and red underarm gussets, with a front 'bib' painted with various geometric shapes on a pale ochre ground. The sleeves are decorated with circular motifs and the hems with lines, spots, lattices and crosses.
This costume contains customs stamp but no maker's/performer's label but appears to be style 5

Object history
It appears that some of the belts worn in the 1913 production of Le Sacre du printemps were used by several characters. Belts worn by the Women in scene 1 re-appeared in scene 2 on the Maidens' costumes.
