Costume designed by Nicholas Roerich for a Polovtsian Warrior in Mikhail Fokine's ballet Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igorcreated for Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, 1909. Wrapover coat of yellow cotton edged with green silk overpainted in purple to show a lozenge pattern. Around the upper arm a band of ikat silk with design in carmine and purple. With a belt of snuff-coloured cotton divided by braid into rectangles with one metal disc and stud remaining of the original decorations
