Physical description
Theatrical banner. Satin brocade banner in cream and turquoise, edged with gold braid with a yellow silk fringe on lower border, and with two rows of yellow silk cord attached to top edge, with four yellow tassels. On top border, the monogram of ENSA (Entertainments National Service Association), centre, with a Union Flag at each upper corner; middle section, in the shape of a shield, embroidered with the rose, thistle, shamrock and daffodil, with, at centre, a gyrfalcon perched on a rock in front of the Icelandic flag. On the left and right borders, the locations visited by the troupe: On the left border, England, Wales, I[sle] of Wight, N[orthern] Ireland, North Africa, Sicily, Mid[dle] East, Syria, Holland; on the right border: Scotland, West[er]n Isles, Orkney Is[les], Iceland, Malta, Italy, Cyprus, Belgium, Germany. Below, 'Patience is a Virtue'. All lettering painted in black on gold brocade.
