Costume, probably for a Wife of Kostchei in Fokine's ballet The Firebird, Diaghilev Ballet, 1910. Dress with white satin bodice painted with blue circles and front inset of eau de nil silk. The long sleeves are cut into lappets, painted with blue semi-circles and eau de nil scales and the georgette skirt is painted slate blue with magenta serpentine lines and spots. Over the skirt are white lappets, linked with white strips, painted with patterns in various colours. The lappets are lined with green silk.
