Firebird

Theatre Costume
1910 (made)

This is one of a large number of costumes worn by performers in The Firebird choreographed by Mikhail Fokinein 1910. The production was originally designed by Alexander Golovin and partly redesigned in 1926 by Natalia Goncharova. Given the lack of supporting visual evidence it is challenging to know if this costume was worn by a retainer of Kostchei or in the coronation scene.
