Mr and Mrs German Reed presented theatre for a fashionable London audience. They described their venue as a ‘gallery’ and the show as an ‘entertainment’ to give it respectability. The operetta Ages Ago had music by Frederic Clay and a libretto by W.S. Gilbert, and was produced two years before Gilbert began his collaboration with Arthur Sullivan.
