Object history | Painted in 1806 for Princess Elizabeth, daughter of George III. A copy by the Princess Elixabeth exists in the Royal Collection, it is inscribed on the reverse 'Eliza fecit / Nov 14th / 1792' Queen Charlotte's Treasurer's accounts record a payment of £22.12s made to Mrs Meen "for drawings" on the 23 March 1792. It is possible that the V&A painting was among the works purchased by Queen Charlotte. |
