Bibliographic reference | Ali Pasha Tepelene (1744? 1822) was governor of Ioannina (Janina), and for a time ruled Epirus, Albania and Thessaly. He was visited by many travellers, including Byron. According to Dupré, copies of his portrait of Ali Pasha and of another drawing were published, without his consent, in France and England prior to the publication of his book. See L.Dupré, 'Voyage à Athènes et à Constantinople', 1825, p.15.
George Vivian was a traveller and amateur artist, and was in Albania in 1819. It seems very likely that he was one of Dupré's travelling companions, referred to as Vivian in Dupré's book.
