Object history
The plate is a version of a watercolour by Clara Mayer's husband, Luigi Mayer, in the British Museum, entitled 'Veduta Del Canale Di Costantinopoli Verso Il Mar Nero, Presa Dal Villagio Di Stauros Nell'Asia Sino Alla Montagna Del Gigante'.
Stavros was probably the former name of Kandilli during the Byzantine era.
