    Object history
‘This is one of a series of images that were all taken as part of the photographer’s large group of work on the theme of his Home Town – Boynton, Oklahoma. After coming to Europe, Sylvester Jacobs took up photography. He spent some time in a community in Switzerland, before settling in England. He returned to his family and his home, and photographed the community and his relatives in America during 1970/71/72. The prints are mostly untitled, except where a name is given. They are signed in pencil on the reverse, and mounted on white card. All the prints were made by the photographer himself in 1972, from 35mm film, and are all black and white, on glossy paper.’ [Taken from Departmental Circulation Register 1972]
