Object history | Worn and given by Mrs Paul Mellon. Multi-billionaire philanthropist, art connoisseur and administrator of a 3rd generation American empire Paul Mellon married Rachel Lambert Lloyd, known affectionately as 'Bunny', in 1948. This union lasted until his death at the age of 91 in 1999. Bunny Mellon was an integral part of her husband's efforts as a collector and staunch supporter of his charitable works. Bunny Mellon was a great friend of Jacqueline Kennedy, and designed the Rose Garden for the White House. |
