Object history | Costume for Boris Godunov worn by Feodor Chaliapin in the Coronation Scene of Modeste Mussorgsky's opera 'Boris Godunov', probably for Serge Diaghilev's Russian Opera season in Paris, 1909. The music for the opera was revised by Rimsky Korsakov, and the libretto was written by Nikolay Mikhaylovich Karamzin after Pushkin. Chaliapin also appeared as Boris Godunov at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in 1913. |
