This tie was worn for rowing at Henley before the First World War, by Malcolm Ellis who later served for the Royal Flying Corps. It was retailed by Ede, Son and Ravenscroft, a gentleman's outfitters who have become well known for their ceremonial and legal tailoring. Sportswear was a pervasive influence on fashionable dress in the early twentieth century.
