Walnut credence, with four plain column supports to the front, a drawer and open shelf, in the centre. Supported on slender baluster legs and ball feet, the panelled back to the upper part carved with an oval medallion surrounded by scroll foliage within moulded borders and the arched niche with flowering branches and rosettes.

Physical description
Walnut credence, with four plain column supports to the front, a drawer and open shelf, in the centre. Supported on slender baluster legs and ball feet, the panelled back to the upper part carved with an oval medallion surrounded by scroll foliage within moulded borders and the arched niche with flowering branches and rosettes.

Object history
Purchased from Messrs Christie, Manson & Woods at the Durlacher Sale (April 6th and 7th, 1938), lot 210 by John Hunt (30c Bury Street, St James, London SW1) on behalf of the Museum, for £89.5.0d. Ralph Edwards (acquisition papers) did not specifically refer to this object in his comments on the French renaissance furniture being offered.
