Physical description | Edwardian style dress and petticoat. Dress (S.2:1-1998) Tan coloured dress, with loose bodice and long straight skirt. Decorative buttons on the bodice, defined with a belt at the slightly raised waistline. Petticoat (S.2:2-1998) Floor length, sleeveless, heavy, cream calico petticoat. The bodice of the petticoat has a soft round neckline and wide shoulder straps. It fits closely to the body and is stiffened with channels of boning. The petticoat fastens at the rear of the bodice with lines of lacing. The petticoat flares out from the waist into a wider skirt, with a deep hem. A wide panel of thick padding (approximately 31 x 19cms) has been added across the bust. |
