Object history | According to family tradition, Zoffany gave this miniature self-portrait to his youngest daughter, Laura Helen Constantia. The back of the frame is engraved with the initials J. M. L. C. E., which are said to be those of Zoffany's daughters. The family tradition does not appear to be supported by any documentary evidence. |
