This plaquettein gilt brass was made in Spain in about 1600. This represents the last illness of St. Francis of Paola, when he asked to be carried to church barefoot exalting his fellow-friars to recommend themselves to charity, before returning to his cell, where he died, at the age of 91.

Physical description
Gilt brass plaquette of St. Francis of Paola. The scene represented is that of the saint's last illness, when he asked to be carried to church barefoot exalting his fellow friars to recommend themselves to charity. St Francis in monastic habit, kneels to the left before an altar, on which are a cross, a whip, and a skull. Above is a vision of cherubs surrounding a gloria with the word 'CHARITAS'. On the right a group of monks, and part of a building. With a moulded rim.
