In 1941, Yugoslavia fell to Nazi German and fascist Italian attack. Josip Broz, known as Tito, led the emerging Communist resistance. Though Tito had Stalinist loyalties, his resistance received help from the Allied forces. By 1945 Tito's forces triumphed over the Nazi and fascist onslaught.
