Children's 8mm films, produced to be shown on a variety of cine projectors, were particularly popular during the 1960s and 1970s. Televisions were becoming common in British households, and the production of programmes and films for children was on the increase. The 8mm films of the time reflected this output both in cartoon or live action form. Even though Charlie Chaplin had stopped making films by 1970, he was still a popular comic figure.
