Killip, a native of the Isle of Man, took these photographs in the early 1970s. They were subsequently published as Isle of Man: A Book about the Manx(1980). The subject is a small community of farmers and fishermen, their relationship to their home and their rapidly disappearing lifestyle. However, Killip has stressed that the photographer’s point of view is just as visible in a photograph as the subjects that it captures.(20/03/2012)
