Object history
This model was made by Walter Wilkinson for an exhibition in America. Wilkinson, a solo puppet-showman, travelled in Britain and America with a handcart loaded with his booth and puppets. He wrote a series of books about his life and experiences: the first, titled The Peep Show, was published in 1927
