Weegee (1899–1968)
Self-portrait, Multiple Image
About 1965

During his later career, Weegee used prisms
and multiple exposures to experiment with
‘distortions’. In this intense self-portrait, the
camera conceals the photographer’s right eye,
but his repeated left eye and the camera’s lens
confront the viewer. The Nikon camera in his
hands was a recent model.
