Object history
Between 1923 and 1926 Edward Weston lived and worked in Mexico with his apprentice and lover, Tina Modotti. This portrait was taken by a studio photographer in Mexico City in 1924 after the couple decided to pose for an ironic 'mock' wedding photograph.
