Colombia was among many Central and South American nations (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela) to support the Allied forces during World War II. In this poster, the Axis powers are symbolised by the sneaking, menacing grip of a jaundiced claw-like hand. It warns for the nations to remain alert to enemy forces. In November 1942 (the year this poster was made), Colombia severed diplomatic ties with France's Vichy government.
