Place of origin |
Slot car racing appeared shortly after the Second World War. It was popular in both the UK and the USA. It was mainly an adult hobby, creating model cars and scenes to go with their track. Toy companies saw the potential started producing complete box sets. Slot cars are model cars that are built to run on single rail tracks. They are controlled by small hand held controls that power the electric motors inside the cars. The art to the racing game is to control the speed of the cars around the bends whilst racing. To much power will send the car flying off the track.
