Playmobil is a toy line from a long running company the Brandstätter Group based in Zirndorf, Germany. The company was founded in 1876 by Andreas Brandstätter, in Furth, Bavaria and produced ornamental fittings and locks. By the 1920s the company mainly produced metal toys such as piggy banks, and miniature household goods. During the 1950s they shifted to plastics. The playmobil range was introduced in 1970 and went worldwide in 1975.
