Brief description
Leaf from Antiphoner. Initial S in blue on a gold ground bordered by green. Border decoration in gold ending in vines in green. France, early 15th century. A duplicate number MS.818 was assigned to this object in error and was subsequently cancelled.
Physical description
Leaf from Antiphoner.
Double-sided. Gothic script. Written in black ink, first verse of the antiphon in blue and red ink. Red staves and black notes.
Decoration:
Initial "S" in blue with green vines terminated by blue, green and brown leaves in inner part, on a gold ground bordered by green. Left bar border in gold ending in green vines and leaves.

Purchased from J. and S. Goldschmidt as part of three portfolios (now Museum nos 234-296) designated as a 'Illuminations: a collection of 338 specimens, pages and cuttings' for the total sum of £100.0.0, received on 15 October 1872; passed on for Register in April 1874 (see Register of Drawings).
