Object history
Shape no. 4005 (Zuckerdose). In production 1930-62.

Formerly in the collection of Mr. Wilhelm Terjung, Director of Karlsruhe factory, 1932-1970, previously Sales Manager under Wolfgang Müller von Baczko probably from the late 1920s. Von Baczko became Director in 1928 and was responsible for contacting Lindig for Bauhaus designs, the copyright of which belonged to Lindig. These Bauhaus designs were for tea, coffee and chocolate only. The original designs came into production at Karlsruhe in 1929, some of them produced until 1962. Information on and dating of all the Karlsruhe pieces has been provided by Peter Schmitt of the Badisches Landesmuseum, Karlsruhe.

The paper label was said by the vendor to have been attached to this object, though was loose when acquired. Its inscription 'RM' was only used pre-war, as was 'Germany', printed in blue on the object itself. The lid, although correct in shape is an extraordinarily loose fit and may have come originally from a different bowl.
