Dress fabric, printed cotton with an African/batik design. The ground is deep blue and the design is blue, yellow and white. Down one selvedge runs a wide (21 cm.) border consisting of squares on point, each edged with a leaf and chain design. Down the other selvedge, a border of similar width, consisting of rectangles of 2-sided part triangles,6 pointed stars and tiny hexagons with, at intervals a square consisting of 2 stylised animals in a roofed structure. In the central panel is a pattern of classical columns, hands, birds, hand-cuffed hearts, eyes and pseudo-Arabic script. Two selvedges.
