Chermayeff designed the interiors of the
foyers in the Cambridge Theatre which was
designed by Wimperis, Simpson and Guthrie.
Built on a very tight site at London's Seven
Dials the circulation spaces are small and
    irregularly shaped. Here Chermayeff uses
a "Jazz Moderne" vocabulary to suggest
    luxury and contemporaneity. Best known
for his Modernist Interiors for the BBC, and
for the De La Warr pavilion at Bexhill (with
    Eric Mendelsohn), Chermayeff left England
in 1939 to teach architecture and design in
    America.
