Object history
The figure of the King is taken almost exactly from the large painting by Van Dyck in the Louvre, except that he is shown bare-headed. The column and the other stonework have been invented by the miniaturist, who has altered with figure of the page and transported the groom and horse to the foot of the steps instead of leaving them immediately behind the King as in the painting by Van Dyck.
