Sleeveless 'coatee' probably worn by Anna Dawson. Sleeveless 'coatee' of mauve satin. At the back is a small pointed yoke which continues into a collar at the front; below this is a deeper pointed yoke which continues into a narrow yoke at the front, this yoke forming the upper armhole. From the yoke hang long pointed loose panels, one to the back, one to the front; below the waist, these panels are caught across at the sides; all the panel points are weighted with looped strings of tiny beads ending in pale pink drop pearls. The seams are accented with very narrow pink satin ribbon. The coatee fastens at the front yoke with hooks and eyes.

Object history | Costume probably worn by Anna Dawson in the musical 'This Thing Called Love' performed at the Watermill Theatre, Newbury, September 1982. The music and lyrics were compiled by David Kernan & John Moffat from various authors and composers, and the show was produced by Wendy Toye. The costume were designed by Bill Gibb using silk presented by the European Commission for the Promotion of Silk. |
